On December 28th 2001, I took a drive to Virginia to do some genealogy research in the Tazewell area. The wife and I are huge Survivor fans so I decided to drive over to Big Tom's hometown while I was in the area and grab some Tee Shirts. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the convenience mart in town and there was Big Tom. I got the chance to talk to him a little and he obliged my request to take a picture.
The whole experience was great. The area is beautiful, with farmlands surrounded by mountains. The people were very friendly and Big Tom was super nice.
